About
US Eda Elitok, holds a Juris Doctor degree from David A. Clarke School of Law at the University of the District of Columbia. She is only eligible to practice immigration matters before federal agencies. During Law school in Community Development Clinic, Ms. Elitok assisted clients in creating profit and nonprofit companies. She advised clients on developing company trademarks and complying with import and export regulations and statutes. Ms. Elitok worked for the Government Accountability Project (GAP) during her Legislative clinic. GAP is a leading national whistleblower rights organization. While there she represented employees who suffered retaliation from their bosses after exposing waste fraud or abuse in the workplace. Ms. Elitok also lobbied the member of Congress for stronger whistleblower protections in the Whistleblower Protection Act, the federal law that protects employees’ right to blow the whistle. In 1999, Ms. Elitok graduated from The American University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. That same year, she received a Certificate of Achievement for the successful completion of the Campaign Management Institute at The American University. Ms. Elitok also holds an Associate Degree in Economics from Anadolu University in Turkey. As a dual citizen in Turkey and the United States, she is familiar with many of the problems and difficulties faced by those attempting to visit or immigrate to the United States. She attended law school in order to assist other foreign nationals with immigration matters and to ensure fair and just treatment of foreign nationals.
F. Douglas Hartnett, Partner Doug Hartnett was an associate at Passman and Kaplan, P.C. prior to opening Elitok & Hartnett at Law in 2005. He has represented clients before the Merit System Protection Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the District of Columbia Superior Court., and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. From 1999 to 2004 Mr. Hartnett was the National Security Campaign Director and staff attorney for the Government Accountability Project, a leading national whistleblower rights organization. From 1997 to 1999 Mr. Hartnett worked for DC Councilmember Hilda Mason and practiced employment discrimination law. In 1997, Mr. Hartnett graduated cum laude from the David A. Clarke School of Law at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC), where he served as Editor of the Law Review and as Treasurer of the Student Bar Association. During Law school Mr. Hartnett worked in several legislative offices and advocacy organizations on issues ranging from communications law reform to representing students with special education rights claims against the DC public schools. He was the president of the National Association of Public Interest Lawyers chapter at UDC and received a "Dean's Cup" for Outstanding Service to the school community. Before attending law school Mr. Hartnett did public relations and fundraising work for non-profit organizations working on environment and health issues. He and his sister founded Hartnett & Associates, Inc. where he was Vice President and Treasurer from 1987 to 1995. In 1983 Mr. Hartnett graduated from Skidmore College with a Bachelor of Science in Studio Art and a Minor in Government. Mr. Hartnett is a member of the Bar in Washington, DC and Maryland.
